A full-blown cold war appeared to be unraveling behind the scenes during the premiere ofEuphoria’s latest season.

After years of delays, the third season of the HBO hit teen drama became one of TV’s most talked-about show returns.

But sources claimed the air betweenZendayaandSydney Sweeneyand several other cast members was icy at theLA premiereon Tuesday.

Euphoriastars were reportedly not surprised whenZendaya and Sydney Sweeney seemed toavoid each other during the premiere.

Sydney’s political leanings and her alleged “flirty” behavior with Zendaya’s boyfriend Tom Holland were some of the reasons behind their frosty relationship, sources claimed.

Zendaya spent a noticeably small amount of time at the premiere and greeted her costar, Hunter Schafer. She also gave the show’s creator, Sam Levinson, a hug and posed for the cameras.

Her team soon rushed her off the red carpet before she could speak to gathered reporters.

Meanwhile, Sydney attended the event with her boyfriend and controversial music manager, Scooter Braun, and was seen interacting with costars Maude Apatow, Alexa Demie, and Schafer.

A source claimed Sydney was “difficult” to deal with on set because of differences in pay and other demands.

“Zendaya was definitely making more money than Sydney,” a production insider told theDaily Mail. “Zendaya was the name coming on to the project, and that wasn’t easy for Sydney, especially since she’s now a bigger name than she once was.”

The source claimed that crew members loved having Sydney on set, but some of the cast members didn’t. TheChristyactress apparently had “a lot of demands” about what she wanted on set, so “that can be difficult for some,” they said.

Zendaya, on the other hand, was “very well liked” and a “pleasure to have on set.”

“She’s a total professional and very down to Earth, very kind and appreciative,” the insider added.

But insiders said Zendaya and Sydney would “avoid each other,” both on set and off it.

Sydney allegedly had issues with differences in pay, while Zendaya wasn’t okay with her “flirty” behavior with her fiancé

A second source claimed that Alexa Demie, who played Maddie Perez in the show and helps Sydney’s charactermake adult content in the new season, might not want to work with Sydney ever again.

“Alexa Demie and Sydney would avoid each other. And people could tell there was no love lost between them; they definitely don’t like each other,” they told the outlet.

When Alexa was giving a red carpet interview during the premiere, Sydney interrupted her and hugged her before saying she looked “amazing.”

Alexa also gave an interview toVogueduring the after-party and spoke about her costars, but she did not mention Sydney’s name.

“I’m always giggly when I get together with Hunter, Maude, and Z. When any of us get together, it’s so special and fun,” she told the outlet.

Another co-star who seemed to keep a distance from his co-stars was Jacob Elordi, who plays Nate Jacobs in the show. He mostly posed for solo shots on the red carpet and was seen hugging Maude (who plays Lexi), ahead of the premiere.

“Jacob had great chemistry with everyone on set. He was well-liked and didn’t cause much of a problem,” the second source told the outlet.

DespiteJacob and Zendaya once beingromantically linked after season one ofEuphoria, the pair “were always professional with each other, the second source said. They might not “ever be lifelong friends” but would be open to working with each other again.

Furthermore, there were reportedly no tensions even when Zendaya’s fiancé, Tom, would visit the set.

TheSpider-Man: Homecomingstar was “there quite a bit” during the filming of the second season and “occasionally” during the third season.

“It was an open secret that Sydney had the hots for Tom and was flirty with him,” a source claimed

“There were never tensions with him being there, as he was out of the way when he needed to be,” the source said. “Complete professional.”

However, sources claimed Sydney would be “flirty” with Tom on set, and because of this, she and Zendaya have not “really hung out socially since then.”

“It was an open secret that Sydney had the hots for Tom and was flirty with him when he would come to set,” a source toldThe Sunthis week. “That did not go down well with Zendaya.”

TheEuphoriabosses were “all too aware” that Zendaya and Sydney weren’t getting along, with tensions going way back. So “their paths barely crossed during the making of season three,” the source said.

Another reason for their soured friendship was Sydney’s alleged political leanings, especially afterher American Eagle ad, which was dubbed “racist” and “white suprem*cist” by many.

Zendaya was upset and was “refusing” to do press calls forEuphoriaseason 3. “It’s no wonder she’s refusing to do it,” an insider told theDaily Maillast year.

Zendaya, who has been a vocal opponent of US President Donald Trump, was in a “difficult position” because of Sydney’s apparentsupport for right-wing politics.

Sydney’s voting records reportedly show that she was registered as a Republican. However, she has not publicly commented on this.

“Sydney Sweeney, a registered Republican, has the ‘HOTTEST’ ad out there. It’s for American Eagle, and the jeans are ‘flying off the shelves,’” Trumppreviously said on social media, gushing with praise over the actress.

“It’s a difficult position for Zendaya to be in because if she even stands next to Sydney on the red carpet, it can be read as her excusing Sydney’s views on Trump and her refusal toapologize for the racistad,” the insider told the outlet at the time.

The rumored feud between Zendaya and the show’s creator, Sam Levinson, may have affected the possibility of a fourth season

It is also speculated that Zendaya has an ongoing feud with the show’s creator, Sam, that might affect the possibility of a fourth season ofEuphoria.

Tensions reportedly flared between them after Sam allegedly directed all his attention to another HBO project,The Idol, which aired in 2023, when nobody was getting a move onEuphoria.

One source told theDaily Mailthis week that their feud erupted over Sam’s “intense” creative process and for “[rubbing] people the wrong way.”

“He is very intense and meticulous,” the source told the outlet. “Not everyone runs that way on set, but Sam wants what he wants.”

Sam “is on his own time, his own wavelength and wants his story to be told by him and not take any notes or ideas from others,” they continued.

There has been no confirmation about a possible fourth season ofEuphoria. But when Zendaya was asked whether the third season would be the last on theDrew Barrymore Show, she said, “I think so.”

During the LA premiere, Sam was asked to confirm whether Zendaya’s revelation was true.

Seemingly caught off guard, Sam said he wrote every season of the show like it would be the last one.

So “if this is our last season, I’m happy,” he toldET.

“Zendaya is jealous that someone is getting more attention than her,” one commented online

UK and Norway led a military operation to deter Russian submarines in the North Atlantic

LONDON (AP) — British and Norwegian militaries led a weekslong operation to deter Russian submarines suspected of “malign activity” in the North Atlantic, the U.K. military said Thursday.

Associated Press

Defense Secretary John Healey said a frigate, planes and hundreds of personnel monitored a Russian attack sub and two spy submarines near undersea infrastructure north of the U.K. He said the Russian vessels eventually left after the operation that lasted more than a month.

Healey said his message to Russia was “we see your activity over our cables and our pipelines and you should know that any attempt to damage them will not be tolerated and will have serious consequences.”

Representatives of Norway’s defense and foreign ministries, as well as the armed forces, did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

British officials have tried to keep Russia in the international spotlight even as the world’s attention is focused on conflict in the Middle East. They have also stressed the overlap between conflicts there and in Ukraine, saying Russia has supplied Iran with drone parts and other support.

Healey told a news conference that “Putin would want us to be distracted by the Middle East,” but Russia is the main threat to the U.K. and its allies.

“We will not take our eyes off Putin,” he said.

In late March, the U.K. said its military was ready to seize ships suspected to be part of Russia’s “shadow fleet” of vessels shipping oil in violation of international sanctions over Moscow’s war on Ukraine. Previously, Britain had only helped France and the U.S. monitor ships before they were boarded.

“We are ready to take action" against the vessels, Healey said.

“The Testaments ”stars and showrunner unpack surprise cameo on “Handmaid's Tale ”sequel premiere

This article contains spoilers forThe Testamentsseason 1, episodes 1-3.

Gilead is back. But not for long, if June Osborne has anything to say about it.

Elisabeth Mossmakes a stunning surprise appearance at the end of the first episode ofThe Testaments, the sequel to the series that made her an Emmy winner,The Handmaid's Tale.

But that's not all — her inveterate freedom fighter June, who was nearly killed countless times plotting the demise of the series' central fascist republic, returnsagainfor a thrilling two-hander with newcomer Lucy Halliday in episode 3, both of which debuted on Hulu on Wednesday.

Before the premiere, Halliday, her co-stars, Chase Infiniti, Ann Dowd, and Mabel Li, as well asThe Handmaid's TaleandThe Testamentsshowrunner Bruce Miller, tookEntertainment Weeklyinside Moss' grand return to Gilead. That is, her return to theHandmaid's-verse, more hell-bent than ever on bringing Gilead down.

The long road toThe Testamentsbegan even before acclaimedHandmaid's Talesource author Margaret Atwood published her sequel novel of the same name in 2019. "She started to work on the book and I had these little hints," Miller recalls of which characters to keep alive... or not.

The Handmaid's Taleseries was only in its third season, and June (spoiler alert for a seven-year-old novel) barely appears in Atwood'sTestaments. Still, Miller cites "many factors involved" when ultimately getting hisTestamentsoff the ground. The first he names — "whether Elisabeth Moss is available that week or not, decides whether she's in the show or not."

The Testamentsswitches focus from the abject degradation of the handmaids stratum of Gilead's repressive society, where misogyny is codified as law, to the rarefied echelon of the Commanders' daughters. These children of privilege, led by Infiniti's Agnes MacKenzie, haven't a clue what June's ilk endured four years before, where the events ofThe Handmaid's Taleended inThe Testaments' timeline.

But still, "having the journey of June felt — it could not end until certain things fell into place," Miller says. "That character really felt like she needed, still needs — she had work to do."

The Testamentstells the tale of Agnes' entwined fate with Daisy (Halliday), a rebellious young woman from Toronto who is spirited into Gilead as an agent of subversion after her parents are killed by republic operatives in a targeted bombing.

June, of course, does the spiriting.

Daisy's parents are eventually revealed as part of Mayday — the resistance network that June joins and ultimately leads significant portions of by the close of theHandmaid's Tale. June is briefly seen at the end of episode 1, lingering in Daisy's parents' shop before the bombing. After the fallout from their deaths in episode 3, she takes Daisy under her wing, making her essentially into a mini-June.

"Elisabeth Moss is the embodiment ofThe Handmaid's Tale. So getting to share the screen with her is a privilege. I was acutely aware of that," Halliday says with earnest conviction. "I think I just found myself watching her a lot. Like, I'd sit in silence between takes, just watching her, because she knows everything about this world.

"The more time I spent watching Elisabeth Moss, the more I realized just how important that feature of your work ethic actually is," she continues. "I'm realizing just how important it is as an actor to be fully prepared, and fully immersed in an environment and in a world and asking every question that you can ask. Because that's your duty in undertaking a role, to be as well-informed in portraying someone's life, and doing it to the best of your ability, and doing it justice."

If anyone knows how Moss works on camera, it's Dowd. For six seasons she played the imperious Aunt Lydia, head of the Aunts, the only faction of women in Gilead with any power, and with no compunction against turning it on their fellow woman. And for six seasons June gave it right back to her.

June ultimately prevails, which Dowd describes in characteristically riveting fashion: "We see her at the end ofThe Handmaid's Taleon her knees in full remorse, begging for forgiveness. In other words, what June Osborne has done is crush her, and Lydia does not push back and say, 'No, uh-uh, you don't understand me.' She allows herself and the walls around her to crumble."

Unfortunately for June, and honestly for Lydia too, they're built back up, fortified, and painted shades of blush and bashful inThe Testaments.Unlike Lydia, however, Dowd absolutely beams when discussing her old sparring partner.

"Oh God, that was such terrific news," the actress says, reflecting on learning of Moss' return. "I love Elisabeth. She has been the heart and soul ofThe Handmaid's Tale, and when she came to be our director, that was so extraordinary. She was hands-down remarkable. So Lizzie has a very special place in my heart, and always will. Any chance to reunite with her is a beautiful one."

Lydia's new whipping post, her second-in-command at Agnes and Daisy's elite girls' school, is Mabel Li's vicious Aunt Vidala. Li reflects that "as someone who was a fan ofThe Handmaid's Tale, when I watched [The Testaments] for the first time and Lizzie turns around, I was like, 'Oh, God.' Her presence is so palpable. It's so powerful. And we know what it means when she shows up somewhere — that resistance is happening."

"Yes," Dowd says, knowingly. "Mayday is there."

The Testamentspremieres new episodes Wednesdays on Hulu.

Caleb Ellsworth-Clark stepped in after Erik Per Sullivan declined to play Dewey in Malcolm in the Middle: Life's Still Unfair.

Key points

  • Anthony Timpano replaced James and Lukas Rodriguez as the family's youngest son Jamie in the revival.

  • Vaughan Murrae, Kiana Madeira, and Keeley Karsten portray new members of the family.

TheMalcolm in the MiddlerevivalLife's Still Unfairbrings back tons of familiar faces — but a few of the stars of the original show declined to return.

AlthoughFrankie Muniz,Bryan Cranston, Jane Kaczmarek,Christopher Masterson, andJustin Berfieldall returned to reprise their respective members of the surname-less central family, the latest iteration of the show swapped out two of the series' younger siblings.

Erik Per Sullivan, who played Dewey on the originalMalcolm in the Middle, declined multiple offers to reunite with his on-screen family. The actor hasn't appeared on screen in over 15 years, so the production tried to make the role as attractive as possible to coax Sullivan out of retirement.

"I tried, I did everything,"Malcolmcreator Linwood Boomer tellsEntertainment Weekly. "You know, that's why Dewey is on Zoom all the time. I said, 'Listen, I worked it out so that we can go to your house if you want, and we can shoot it with a green screen. We can do it in half a day, that's all it would be.'"

Despite the relatively low level of commitment required for the part, Sullivan still opted out, soWynonna Earpalum Caleb Ellsworth-Clark is taking his place as Dewey. "He was like, 'I don't wanna be an actor anymore,'" Boomer says of Sullivan. The showrunner, who began his career as an actor on shows likeLittle House on the Prairiebefore pivoting to behind-the-camera work, recalls Sullivan flipping the line of questioning to underline his point.

"I kept pushing him, and then he said, 'Doyouwanna be an actor anymore?'" Boomer remembers. "And I was like, 'No.' And he was like, 'Okay then, yeah... leave me alone [about it]."

Though he had steady success as a child actor in films likeThe Cider House RulesandChristmas with the Kranks, Sullivan stepped away from screen acting while he was still a teenager, with his final performance arriving in 2010'sTwelve.

Cranstonpreviously saidthat he chatted with Sullivan about a potentialMalcolmreturn.  "I talked to Erik and I said, 'Hey, we got the show! It's going to come back.' He goes, 'Oh, that's fantastic!'" theBreaking Badactor toldFly on the Walllast year. "And I go, 'Yeah, so we're looking forward to having you back.' He goes, 'Oh, no, no, I don't want to do it. But it's fantastic.'"

Cranston noted that Sullivan is exploring a new career trajectory. "He's actually going to Harvard," theTrumbostar explained. "He's really, really smart, and he's getting his master's at Harvard right now. He said, 'Oh God, no, I haven't acted since I was nine or something. So I'm not into it.'"

Kaczmarekshared similar sentimentswithThe Guardian. "He's studying Dickens and is an incredible student," the actress explained. "They offered him buckets of money to come back, and he just said: 'No thank you.'"

Dewey isn't the only member of the family played by a new actor.Life's Still Unfairalso recast Jamie, the family's youngest brother who was played by twins James and Lukas Rodriguez in the last four seasons of the original show. Like Sullivan, the Rodriguezes have not appeared on screen in over 15 years, with their only credit outside ofMalcolmcoming in a 2009 episode ofWithout a Trace.

As a result, Anthony Timpano has stepped into the role of Jamie inLife's Still Unfair. He has previously appeared in episodes ofRiverdale,Nancy Drew,DC's Legends of Tomorrow, andFire Country.

There are a couple of other new faces joining the family inLife's Still Unfair, too. Vaughan Murrae portrays Hal and Lois' youngest child, Kelly, on the revival. Kelly didn't appear in the original series, but Kaczmarek's character discovered she was pregnant again in the show's series finale in 2006.

Additionally, Kiana Madeira boarded the series as Malcolm's girlfriend, Tristan, while Keeley Karsten portrays the couple's daughter, Leah. Boomer is particularly enthusiastic to introduce the world to the latter actress, who previously appeared in Steven Spielberg'sThe Fabelmansand Prime Video'sHunters.

"Keeley is an undiscovered star," Boomer says. "As a performer, she has this crazy potential that would be silly for show business not to use."

Eiza Gonzalez's Dolce & Gabbana Swimsuit Features Massive Back Cutout

Eiza Gonzálezcontinues to deliver striking beachside moments in her latest Women’s Health photoshoot. This time around, the “Baby Driver” actor opts for multiple swimwear items for the editorial. However, one of the photos stands out, which sees her posing on the sand in a daring Dolce & Gabbana swimsuit that puts a bold twist on classic swimwear design.

Eiza Gonzalez wows in Dolce & Gabbana swimsuit with huge cutout for Women’s Health

Shot along the shoreline, Eiza González appears seated on the sand as waves roll in behind her, creating a dramatic yet natural backdrop. The actor wears a sleek black one-piece by Dolce & Gabbana that blends minimalism with a daring silhouette. From the front, the swimsuit looks simple and put together, but the design reveals its most striking feature from the back.

The piece has a massive open back cutout that dramatically exposes her back while maintaining a sculpted fit through the torso. The bold cutout design adds an element of sensuality while keeping the overall aesthetic refined and modern. The Dolce & Gabbana swimsuit also features extended boy-short style bottoms that reach down to her lower thigh. It appears almost bodysuit-like rather than a traditional high-cut swimsuit.

The beach setting enhances the raw, editorial feel of the photoshoot. Sand dusted across González’s arms and legs gives the images a natural texture, while the crashing waves behind her create a powerful, cinematic atmosphere. Styling for the shoot remains intentionally minimal. González’s dark hair appears wet and tousled, adding to the coastal aesthetic. Meanwhile, her makeup stays soft and bronzed to complement the warm tones of the beach environment. The simplicity of the styling allows the swimsuit’s daring cut to take center stage.

The images are part of González’s larger Women’s Health cover story, which explores her personal journey and evolving career. In theinterview, the actor reflects on her path from early acting roles in Mexico City to breaking into Hollywood with the 2017 film “Baby Driver.”

With its dramatic cutout and striking beachside setting, González’s Dolce & Gabbana swimsuit moment proves that a bold silhouette can make just as powerful a statement as high-fashion looks.
