The European Commission has confirmed LaLiga have made a submission to investigate Manchester City after claims the Premier League champions have been involved in a financial scandal. LaLiga president Javier Tebas made the bombshell claim at the Financial Times Business of Football Summit in London on Thursday. Tebas accused Man City of an Enron-style financial scandal. Enron was an infamous multi-billion-pound accounting deception which erupted nearly 25 years ago in the United States.

Semi-automated offside technology (SAOT) will be used in English for the first time on Friday night during the fifth round of the FA Cup. The technology, which was also in use throughout last summer's European Championships, uses optical player tracking and virtual graphics to help provide a more accurate placement of the offside line. A player is in an offside position if any part of their head, body or feet is in the opponents' half (excluding the halfway line) and any part of the head, body or feet is nearer to the opponents' goal line than both the ball and the second-last opponent.
